Jones Skips and Recycling of Wolverhampton, one of the largest independent skip hire companies operating in the Midlands, contacted us in 2013 with the requirement to build a new state of the art, one million pound recycling facility due to recent expansion within their business.
Andy Yeomans from Jones Skips said, “We have used Concrete Panel Systems before and on each occasion have found their customer service to be excellent. Their products are always very competitively priced and our business has been able to rely on their punctual and prompt delivery of the panels, ensuring our construction project was delivered on time and to budget.
This meant that we could manage the project with the confidence of knowing that delivery dates would be met”.
Construction Requirements
As part of the development of their new recycling centre, Jones Skips and Recycling required a means of protecting their new machinery as well as segregating the raw materials, before and after the recycling process. They required a solution that would keep the site clean and facilitate the smooth running of this successful operation.
Andy Yeomans went on to say, “We required a durable structure to protect the state of the art £1 million pound machine within our recycling plant and concrete offered a cost-effective solution.”
The Concrete Panel Systems Solution
Concrete Panel systems were provided with a brief and drawings from Jones Skips and Recycling and set to work providing a solution of concrete panels and concrete lego blocks for the new facility. Andy Yeomans said, “We sent our design plans to CPS and they told us how many concrete panels and blocks we needed to order.”
Jones Skips chose concrete panels and lego blocks because of their strength and versatility over more traditional building methods such as brick. The heavy machinery used to move recycled material in and out of the bays would damage and potentially destroy a conventional breeze block wall. Concrete panels have to be strong enough to withstand the pushing forces of the heavy plant machinery and Concrete Panel systems only manufacture CE marked products that ensure their customers are getting the very best quality and a product that will last.
In the unlikely event that a panel was damaged, their modular nature means that they can be lifted out of their steel frame and replaced, even if the panel is at the bottom section of the wall. Conversely, a breeze block wall would have to be rebuilt from scratch. This represented a saving in time and money for Jones Skips and Recycling.
Pre-stressed concrete walling is a cost-effective and fast way of constructing a range of temporary or permanent steel framed buildings and walls for a range of industries.
